About the Event

The Mayan Calendar offers spiritual tools for personal and collective awakening. Every 9 months the calendar completes a full cycle and we begin a new Lunar Year, called Cholq'ij. This is a special time to align with the wisdom of the moon, get insights about the energetics of the new cycle, receive spiritual guidance and set intentions for your personal path.

This year we gather online to celebrate the Rebirth of the Moon, connect to the Mayan ancestors and receive their gifts of healing and wisdom. The event is interactive, we start with a mayan ritual to welcome the new Cholq'ij, we venture into the mayan jungle through a guided meditation for a surprise encounter, receive messages from the mayan oracle, set intentions for the new cycle, travel back in time through the shamanic journey, and more. You will learn  simple mayan rituals , learn more about the Lunar cycle, experience your direct connection to the mayan guides, spend time with like minded people and be enchanted by the mysticism of the mayan culture.

"The universe is alive and we are the vibration of the universe. This is possible thanks to the Cosmic Energy distributed throughout the universe. It’s energy that allows the rhythmic and balanced movement of all that exists, including people, that are like small threads inside this beautiful great tapestry. “- Pedro Guoron , mayan elder

If you want to immerse yourself more in the energy of the Mayan Lunar Year, you can also prepare a mayan altar for the event.

See below to learn about the mayan altar and find some guidelines to make your own.

Make a Mayan altar

In the Mayan tradition, whenever we approach the higher energies, we make offerings at the altar.

The Mayan altar is East facing and varies in size and fashion depending on the indigenous group and the creativity of each individual family. The altar is usually on the ground and outdoor, in contact with the earth.

To make your Mayan altar, once you have chosen a surface and a cloth, place the items that represent the elements: water, fire, air and earth. For fire you may want to use a candle, for water a bowl of water , for air a feather or a symbol of the sky, for earth a rock or herbs or anything that to you represents the element of earth. The elements can also be represented symbolically, they can be icons, crystals or even drawings. Once you've placed the elements on the altar, you can make an offering of food.

In the mayan tradition we offer foods that are  sweet such as fruit, cake, honey or chocolate, as well as sweet coffee, liquor, tea, cacao.

The offering can also be savoury but never bitter, sour or spicy.

If you know your Nawal, you can also place it on the altar ( an image of it works).
