An Ancient Mediterranean Practice

Water has long been honoured as a doorway between worlds.

Across the ancient Mediterranean, sacred springs, wells and pools were places of prayer, healing and revelation. People travelled great distances to seek guidance at these sacred waters, where priestesses and seers entered deep states of communion to perceive what lay beyond ordinary sight. Their role was to listen, interpret and give voice to the wisdom carried by the unseen.

In my homeland of Sardinia, the ancient peoples built temples around sacred wells, creating places where the visible and invisible worlds could meet. Similar traditions flourished throughout the Mediterranean, where water was regarded as a living presence, a keeper of memory and a vessel for communication with spirit's guidance.
